I enclose the Video of it:
In the last five years, with the change of the advertising creative partner, the advertisement were shifted to focus on the hardwares. Hence, you will see the new specious cabins of the B777 and the A380 super-jumbos.
Faced with strong competitions, both from the LCC, the low cost carriers and the traditional competitors, SIA is bringing back the old weapons, the Singapore Girls.
However the Singapore Girls now is not the same as those in the 80s and 90s. We are not very sure about the % of Singaporean, but looking at the advertisements for the recruitment for the crews, only a very small percentage was conducted in Singapore, even then, Malaysian are welcome for the interview, like the Singaporean. Probably the increased prosperity had made the job less attractive.
In a separate news, SIA had announced a structure at its top level of management. The new CEO (from 1 Jan), Goh Choon Phong has announced the changes to enable SIA to more nimble take new challenges and opportunities.
Effect from February 1:
a. All commercial areas will be consolidated under Executive Vice President for Commercial, Mak Swee Wah. This includes marketing and sales, as well as products delivery.
b. Human Resources and Operations will be grouped under Ng Chin Hwee. The areas will include flight operation, cabin crews, engineering and traffics and customer services.
It is not known whether the decision to recall the Singapore Girls is the result of the change of management or was made earlier
