For an airline the hiring process is one of the critical process to build a strong and winning cabin crew team. This is because, the recruitment acts like the entry gate to a playing field, you have to get in to be able to play. Once you are hired, then the process of training will start. Many may argue, the airline can sack the incompetent workers, and he is not wrong about it as it is possible to fire a staff. But the cost of firing is often much more than hiring.
For that reason, airlines put alot of effort to ensure the recruitmnt is done properly. Hence, the physical and background check will be done thoroughly.
If you are one of the applicant for the job of cabin crew, and while filling the job application form, you may be tempted to hide some of the important record, such as employment history or felony history. You may think that you can get away with it, but airlines have ways to check and determine your record.
Every airline administers a company physical examination to every new-hire. During this exam, an airline is able to detect whether you lied on your application about your height, whether you have a drug or alcohol problem, or whether your past medical history shows anything adverse that would disqualify you from getting the flight attendant career. Since you are given a urinalysis during this physical, it is very important that you inform the examiners of any medications you might be taking.
In addition to the medical exam, there is also a thorough background check. During the background check, which can go back as many as 10 years, virtually everything about you is investigated – your age, place of birth, school records, criminal records (if any), etc. If an airline finds that you lied on your application or you have any sort of criminal record, you will be immediately dismissed.
