Sarawak was opening up, however majority of the land were still unchartered and the transportation was limited to jungle trekking and river boats. When landing strips were built, the machineries had to be dropped by helicopter. The village is now accessible by air, when it was a 5 day trekking was the norm to reach the it.
The first few years of operation, the villagers were give the freedom to bring along their belongings on board. Guess what you could have, a few of them would come with a couple of chickens, some were dragging pigs and goats.
You cannot argue with the local, there were not used to our way of logics. In one of the flight, the chickens got free and the cabin crew had to chase them in flight. Lucky the chicken did not do much hard, the passengers understood, as they were the local. In fact they may be chasing chicken at their village together when they were young.
In another flight from Jeddah, the crews tested to their limit. There were some passengers who insist in taking their showers. This was what they said .." you have to understand that I had not taken shower for 3 days, your flight was delayed, it is not my problem, it is yours...". When the crew refused, the passenger still went to the wash room, lock himself, and soon the crew saw the water start to flow from the wash room.
If think this happen to Asian airlines, you are dead wrong, it can happen to anyone.
