Airasia is becoming the success story of a low cost carrier. An airline that was purchased for a value of one symbolic ringgit (about 30 us cent) had certainly proven its worth.
Now the market capitalization is MR7.5 bil (note 1)

| ... source skytrax official site-------------------------- I did take a quick glance on the criteria of assessment. The rating is based on passenger perception survey. As we know, perception survey is a measure of the feelings of the travelling public.
The measures are conveniently arranged in a travelling sequence. a. Booking b. At the airport c. On board the flight.
The respond to the survey is divided into 5 , I guess they are using the Linkert scale. Most of the responds are centered at the center on 3. That must be the reason for the 3 star airline.
AirAsia seem to do well in the internet booking as well as the customer services. For example:
a. Airasia scores measure of 4 for the web site ease of use the language option. b. It also scored 4 for service courtesy and presence in flight.
The weak point where Airasia score the low 2 points are during:
a. Booking: the quality of customer support and help b. At the airport, it has 2, the boarding efficiency and check in time. c. In flight - the airline did poorly for the inflight entertainment option, scoring the lowest figure of 1 out of 5.
Conclusion In my opinion, the measure is not a good indicator of performance against a full service airlines. This is because the mind set of passengers travelling in a low cost airline is different from that of a full service airline. A scale of 2 for Airasia is NOT the same of the measure of 2 for MAS.
