I had been receiving questions about the career of air hostess which I would like to share with the readers.
The questions are:
1. What are the normal interview questions?
2. Is there any interview for the airline in London?.
3. She had been applying for the crews job since she was 18, now she is 32, is there any chance for the Job?.
4. Information are required on the job of cabin crew and ticketing job.
5. Can a girl with head scaff join as cabin crew?.
6. Can I apply if I am 156 cm high.
RESPONDS
Here is my responds to some of the questions:
1. Requirements are given in this blog earlier. Requirements
2. The venue of the interview will depend in the location of the targeted recruits. Not many of the Asian airlines will employ cabin from from UK or Europe. There are some middle east airlines that seek employees from Europe.
3. If you meet the requirement, you can apply for the position.
4. The interviews are normally done in various steps:
i) requirements checks, the airlines officers will take your weight and height, check the paper, qualifications etc.
ii) If all are OK, the you can have a group interview. Probably 10 of the applicants are invited to a room, sit down in a circle, and discuss a specified topics or questions. This is the basic coarse filter, to check for your basic communication skill and the general ability to understand and talking. It also check for the social ability, to be able to bring up himself in a group.
iii) Individual interview
- test your communication skills, verbal and body language, how to test? depend on the interview. If I were doing it for SIA in Singapore, I would just ask... " let say your friend from Japan called and intended to come to Singapore, she wanted to know what to see in Singapore, what would you say". So I can check on 2 aspects, the language and knowledge,.
5. If a person has been applying for many time and still did not get the job, I would probably suggest to get alternative career. There are two basic reasons:
- the length of time is more than enough to correct a negative situation.
- there must had been a really negative and gross lack in skill or shortcoming to be rejected many times.
6. I saw the advertisement for British Crew, One of the requirements was, the crew must agree to wear the given uniform. I had not seen any airlines with head scarf as the uniform.
Thank You.
